Class Description

You are constantly making choices in your daily life, but how do you bring awareness to your decision making process? In this improvisation class, we will say yes to our ideas and invite our knowledge, memories and experiences to create impromptu dances while navigating through multiple movement scores. This class is suitable for movers of all levels and abilities interested in improvisation strategies. Class will start with a series of Tai Ji exercises followed by various scores.

About the Teacher

Daiane Lopes da Silva (she/her) is a choreographer, educator and artistic director of Kinetech Arts, where she has choreographed and directed more than ten full-length dance performances. Her residencies include Djerassi Resident Artists Program, ODC Theater, Headlands Center for the Arts and others. She was a guest artist at UC Berkeley and taught courses on dance, science and technology at SSU and UC Davis.

Please pre-register to take a class. The first 30 pre-registered people to show up will get to take class.

What should I bring?
• Danceable clothing that you’re comfortable in!
• Face mask, if desired. Masks are optional in class.
• We recommend taking class barefoot or in socks, some styles in clean sneakers
• Water bottle
