Class Description
We will use improvisational and authentic movement practices as investigative methods towards sensation, pleasure, and the experience of seeing and being seen. With time and task based movement scores as our primary point of departure, this class offers a space to gather in playful curiosity, embodied inquiry, and collaborative movement conversation.
About the Teacher
Jennifer Perfilio (she/her) is a San Francisco based dance artist, choreographer, educator, and Artistic Director of Jennifer Perfilio Movement Works (JPMW). With a long history as a site specific dance artist, Jennifer has a particular investment in the intersection of art and public space. Since 2020 alone, she has presented 11 outdoor performance activations in 4 different public spaces in San Francisco and Oakland, in partnership with SF Rec and Parks, SF Botanical Garden, and Justice for Zumbi. Rooted in an ethics of solidarity and collective care, these performances explore ways of sharing space rather than occupying it.
Please pre-register to take a class. The first 30 pre-registered people to show up will get to take class.
