Class Description

In this class, you will be invited to explore some of the abundant possibilities of dance partnering through a blend of contact improvisation scores and technical weight-sharing exploration, focusing on giving and getting support when moving with others. We will dive into some dynamic lifts, finding seamless ways of flowing into and out of them. Moving on to contextualizing, we will spend time developing some movement scores of our own.

About the Teacher

Megan Lowe (she/they) is a dance maker/performer/teacher, aerialist, and singer-songwriter of Chinese and Irish descent, making dance art in the SF Bay Area, situated on unceded Ramaytush Ohlone land. With an affinity for dynamic places and partners, her creations through Megan Lowe Dances explore complex identities and experiences by tackling unusual physical situations and inventing compelling solutions, opening up the imagination to what is possible. Megan’s recent choreographic works have been seen at Fort Mason, ODC, de Young Museum, Legion of Honor Museum, and The Annex, as well as in SF Aerial Arts Festival, United States of Asian America Festival, SF Trolley Dances, CAAMFest, and on KQED Live.
