Class Description

Dive into the flow of getting low by unpacking the rigor, mechanics, and efficiency of floorwork with care, curiosity, and precision! As a constant stream of movement warms the body, juices the joints, and builds muscle memory, you will learn how your natural architecture can make low pathways, inversions, and tricks feel smooth, strategic, strengthening, and sustainable. We recommend participants wear comfortable layers that cover their whole body, including socks.

About the Teacher

Undercurrent is a dance company cultivating capacity, curiosity, and community through floorwork classes, choreography, and collaboration in Seattle since 2017. After earning her BFA from CalArts, director Hilary Grumman (she/her) pursued floorwork training in Piso Móvil, Flying Low, Psico-Físico, Jorge Crecis, Ihsan Rustem, Moving Air, Duela-Cemento, A Surprised Body, CONTINUUM, and Austrian Parkour. Weaving these methods with 11 years of personal floorwork research, she has fine-tuned a thoughtful and thorough technique taught from the ground up through weekly classes in Seattle, intensives for universities, such as the University of Washington and Cornish College of the Arts, and workshops with fellow floorwork practitioners Ground Grooves, Lavinia Vago, Nicole von Arx, Elia Mrak, RUBBERBAND dancers, and more.

Please pre-register to take a class. The first 30 pre-registered people to show up will get to take class.
